“I think love is the most important thing, so I try to spread more of it,”
The statement comes from Kristen Williams, a teacher from Cincinnati, Ohio, who has a bigger heart than most.
Kristen adopted two little girls from India. The girls had previously endured traumas that no one should ever have to experience.
But under the loving and confident parenthood of their new mother, the young girls were given every chance to grow into confident young women with a bright future.
But let’s start from the beginning.
Kristen Williams was never interested in getting married – but she also rejected the idea that single parents couldn’t successfully raise their children.
After deciding she wanted to be a parent, she went through long and complicated adoption processes.
Kristen began looking at Indian children – and found herself deeply saddened as she scrolled through photo after photo of young Indian children in need of a home.
Her eyes finally rested on the face of a 5-year-old girl named Munni. When she saw Munni’s face, her heart filled with love and compassion for the little girl.
“I immediately felt a strong attraction to this little girl,” says Kristen. “I don’t know what it was, but I felt there was a connection. I just knew she was my daughter, I felt we should be together and that the ball was rolling.”
After working hard to raise enough money, going through long information sessions, and completing page after page of boring paperwork, Munni finally came home to Kristen in 2013.
Like many adopted children with difficult upbringing, Munni was shy and reserved at first. She had multiple visible scars on her head and face, as well as emotional scars in her heart.
Later that same year, Kristen saw another photo of a little girl from the adoption agency in India.
The child had literally been dumped in the trash by her parents. Fortunately, the Indian police found the child in time to save her life – unfortunately, the same cannot be said for her nose.
A large portion of her nose had been bitten off – most likely by insects or stray dogs.
The girl, named Roopa, had been living in an Indian orphanage for a while. No one wanted to adopt her because of the damage to her face.
But Kristen immediately knew that this girl also belonged in her family.
“At first sight, I realized it was meant for me to take care of her, she would be my daughter,” Kristen told Times of India. “Just like any other child, she deserves a family she can call her own. In my eyes, she’s the most beautiful girl ever.”
Munni and Roopa eventually became best friends and started adjusting to their new life in the United States.
But when the popular TV show “The Doctors” heard about this incredible family history, they felt compelled to help.
‘The Doctors’ arranged for Roopa and Munni to meet highly qualified and skilled surgeons to help the sisters heal – both on the outside and inside.
The doctors then removed some of Munni’s physical scars – and then gave Roopa a completely new nose. Kristen is convinced that the physical transformations of her girls are a step in the right direction to leave their past behind and focus on the future.
The powerful video below reveals how the sisters look today.
How adorable and lovely are Munni and Roopa!
I wish this family all the best for the future and a big thumbs up to Kristen who truly has a heart of gold – share this story if you think she deserves recognition for her great compassion and love!
