Triple Trouble: Shocking News For Expectant Mom
They wanted nothing more than to become parents of a son or daughter. But despite years of trying, Courtney and Philip Garrett from New Orleans just couldn’t make it work.
Eventually, they decided to try in vitro fertilization, IVF – and to the couple’s great surprise, Courtney eventually became pregnant with triplets.
But that wasn’t the only miracle the family would experience… 7 years later, the doctors were once again astonished.
The family’s first three children – Oliver, Jack, and Ellie – all came into the world thanks to IVF.
That birth alone was a miracle for the family. Courtney and Philip had implanted two eggs, and one of the eggs had split, producing a pair of twins and a sister.
“I didn’t believe it was possible,” Courtney told WWL-TV.
But it was possible, and the triplets were brought home to loving parents.
What they didn’t know was that Courtney and Philip wanted to give them a fourth sibling.
And 7 years later, they surprised the little ones with exciting news. Courtney was pregnant again!
But Courtney and Philip were in for another huge shock.
The ultrasound showed that Courtney was not only pregnant again, but she was expecting three babies for the second time.
But it wasn’t the multiple pregnancy that surprised the doctor this time.
Because when Courtney wondered how she could have triplets again, she received an unexpected answer.
Clearly shocked, the doctor explained the strange miracle. In the exact same month in which Courtney had undergone IVF, she had also conceived naturally. Then one of the eggs split, and Courtney suddenly had a pair of identical twins and a sister in her belly.
The family’s second set of triplets was therefore fertilized both naturally and artificially – in the same pregnancy!
It was a phenomenon that left both the parents and the doctors speechless – and it is extremely rare.
When WWL-TV investigated the story, they found that there was only one other set of triplets conceived both naturally and artificially.
Even the doctor was in shock at this medical miracle!
Through a miracle, the Garrett family had now grown from two to eight members.
Three older triplets were joined by three younger ones, one to care for each!
They are a big, happy family!
