Sammy Green, a 10-year-old from Pottstown, Pennsylvania (USA), was on his usual route from school to home when he sensed something amiss…
He noticed a woman following him. His father, Sam Green, recounted the incident to the media, saying, “She started walking with him and asking him where his family was, asking where his father was.”
Despite not recognizing the woman, she persisted, claiming familiarity with his family and urging him to accompany her.
“She said she probably knew me and was going to Wawa and he could go with her and get anything he wanted,” young Sammy remembered.

Feeling uneasy, the 10-year-old began to consider his options. Spotting a familiar store, he made a split-second decision to seek help inside.
Entering the Dani Bee Funky store, Sammy approached the cashier and urgently whispered a request that prompted immediate action.
Sammy’s father explained that his son told the cashier, “Pretend you’re my mom, this lady is following me.”

Surveillance footage revealed that upon hearing Sammy’s plea, the cashier swiftly positioned herself between him and the woman. By then, the woman had entered the store and stood near the door.
The cashier took action by approaching the door, closing it, leaving the woman outside, and securing the entrance.
Store owner Dani Small commended her employee for her quick response in safeguarding the young boy. Small remarked, “I am very proud of her. Hannah is a 17-year-old young lady. She did everything right.”
While the situation was undoubtedly challenging for the 17-year-old cashier, her swift actions ensured the safety of the little boy!
The woman who attempted to lure Sammy away has been apprehended by authorities and referred for mental health evaluation.
Kudos to the young woman whose intervention protected this boy from harm. It’s heartening to see people step up to assist those in need!
