Unexplained Discoveries: 19 Shocking Findings in Sick Dog’s Body

In Boston, United States, an ordinary day turned into one she will never forget. Emily Shanahan noticed her dog behaving strangely.

He began to vomit and showed strange symptoms, reports Western Journal.

I was deeply impressed by this story.

Dogs eat everything. They chew on shoes, sticks, plastic, garbage, you name it. But whether what they swallow is really dangerous can only be found out once it’s too late.

Emily Shanahan is the mother of a toddler and has a 3-year-old bulldog, Mortimer. But one day, he started exhibiting strange symptoms. Being a doctor herself, she knew she had to take her dog to the vet immediately.

From bad to worse

Upon arrival at the vet, Mortimer received the necessary medication to stop vomiting. Then his stomach was examined to see if it had improved. Nausea in dogs can be caused by many diseases, so the vet had to investigate how his body reacted to the medication.

Initially, Mortimer improved more and more.

But months went by, and Mortimer started vomiting constantly again. He also became withdrawn and unsocial. Normally, the 3-year-old dog is lively and playful, enjoying time with his family.

Mortimer even refused to eat, so a scan was needed to determine what the issue was with the pup.

Scan revealed something terrible

At the hospital, the scan revealed something terrible. Veterinarians are used to finding all sorts of strange objects in dogs’ stomachs.

But in Mortimer’s case, there were a total of 19 objects in his stomach. Nineteen pacifiers!

“I was in shock because I never thought he would eat the pacifiers of my two children,” Shanahan told WBZ NewsRadio.

Months of eating pacifiers

The doctors suspected that he had been eating pacifiers for months.

“It is highly likely that Mortimer started eating the pacifiers in April, one by one, leading to chronic nausea and vomiting. These are symptoms that can be caused by other health problems. If the family hadn’t taken him to the vet, it would have ended badly for him,” said a vet from the same clinic.

“Would do anything for him”

Eventually, all 19 pacifiers were successfully removed from his stomach.

“We love this dog so much and would do anything for him. I am delighted that this problem could be resolved without leaving him with a chronic illness,” Shanahan told WBZ NewsRadio.

Mortimer is now healthy, playful, and sociable again. And he was thrilled to go back home and play.
