Some dogs are unfairly stereotyped because of their breed, and no dog has it worse than the pitbull. Pitbulls have long been feared by the public and are seen as naturally mean and violent dogs.
Like any breed, it all depends on the environment and upbringing of the dog. Many pitbulls are incredibly loving and friendly, both with people and with other animals.

But their cruel reputation has done a lot of damage to the breed: they often struggle to be adopted, and are frequently used in illegal dog fighting. They are the most common breed in shelters.
Many pitbull enthusiasts work hard to debunk the myths and clear their good name… like this father, who defended his dogs after facing criticism for leaving them near his baby.
Jarad Derochey is the owner of MVP Kennels, which breeds American Bully dogs. He firmly believes that these dogs, despite their reputation, make great pets; his Instagram shows how happy and friendly pitbulls can be.
He trusts his dogs so much that he can leave them with his young children without worry.
While many pitbull skeptics are mainly concerned about how they will behave around babies, Jarad showed that the dogs can peacefully cuddle with the children.
While many found these photos cute, others did not: Jarad apparently received some backlash from people concerned that he was putting his son’s life in danger by letting him sleep with a pitbull.
But he defended himself, and the dogs. According to Inside Edition, he spoke out and not only said that his pitbulls were so loving and gentle that they would never harm his children, but also hoped that the precious photos and videos would make people reconsider the breed.
โAn expert in dog temperament testing showed that pitbulls pass for 86 percent of temperament, while the average dog scores 77 percent,โ Jarad said, according to LittleThings.
โThat means that pitbulls have the second-highest temperament of all breeds.โ
In the years since, Jarad has continued to post photos and videos showing the dogs’ friendly nature, including more interactions between the dogs and children.
And nowadays, the reactions seem much more positive: people agree that it’s not about the breed, but how you raise them.
Pitbulls deserve love just like any other dog and should not be judged based on unfair stereotypes. These photos and videos are just more examples of how loving they can be.
