Lauren Wasser, a California model, faced a unique and tragic incident in 2012 — her right leg was amputated.
It’s hard to fathom how a simple hygiene product could result in such a life-altering event. Recently, Lauren had to undergo the amputation of her other leg, emphasizing the importance of women being cautious.
Lauren Wasser’s health crisis began when she visited the hospital in 2012, thinking she had the flu. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with toxic shock syndrome (TSS) caused by bacteria.

The culprit behind this infection was a tampon. Prolonged use of tampons can lead to TSS, a severe condition that can be life-threatening.
Lauren fell into a coma for more than a week due to TSS. Upon regaining consciousness, she had to undergo the heartbreaking amputation of one of her legs. At that time, she was only 24 years old.

Driven by her traumatic experience, Lauren advocates tirelessly to prevent others from enduring similar hardships.
A Determination to Prevent More Suffering
In her own words to The Daily Mail, Lauren shared, “My other leg will be amputated within months. It’s a situation I can’t change. But I can empower others to avoid this fate.”

She has taken legal action against Kotex Natural Balance, the brand responsible for the tampons that triggered her severe reaction.
“Given that the vagina is extremely absorbent and connects to vital organs, consumers must be aware of potential risks,” Lauren emphasized in InStyle.
Regrettably, Lauren recently underwent the difficult decision of having her other leg amputated.

After her surgery, Lauren shared a picture on social media alongside Paralympic athlete Amy Purdy, who has also faced amputations, expressing her optimism:
“Another chapter in life begins! I’m staying positive and embracing what lies ahead.”

Let’s commend the courage of this incredible woman. Lauren’s battle is not just for herself but for the protection of others from similar ordeals.
