With Love, Meghan: The Surprising New Name Change of Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle is no longer known by her maiden name. The Duchess of Sussex recently disclosed that she, along with her husband Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, have adopted a new last name.

In her new show, With Love, Meghan, Meghan corrected Mindy Kaling when Kaling mistakenly used her former surname to address her.

Meghan Markle has changed her last name

During her Netflix show, Meghan humorously pointed out, ‘It’s so funny that you keep saying Markle. You know it’s Sussex now. I share my name with my children. I didn’t realize how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much, this is our family name. Our little family now.’

In a recent interview with People, Meghan shared a similar sentiment. She and Harry were bestowed with the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex by the late Queen Elizabeth II after their marriage. As per the official website of the royal family, their children are officially known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet of Sussex.

Meghan elaborated, saying, ‘It’s our shared family name, and I think I didn’t realize how meaningful that would be to me until we had children. I love that that’s something that Archie, Lili, Harry, and I all have together. It means a lot to me.’ She expressed that the name Sussex is ‘part of our love story.’

With Love, Meghan made its debut recently, with Netflix referring to Meghan as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in the project. To announce the series on January 2, Meghan took to Instagram and wrote, ‘I am so thrilled to share this with you! I hope you enjoy the show as much as I have enjoyed making it.’
